CHELSEA PHILLIP
Chelsea began her training at a young age studying in an expansive array of genres including, Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Pointe and Musical Theater. Chelsea was accepted into the Somerset County Gifted and Talented program under the direction of Shelia Buttermore. Here, she intensively trained in additional areas of dance such as choreography, improvisation, and stage-managing. Chelsea was awarded a scholarship in recognition of her choreographic skill and dance development. She continued her dance career at Montclair State University learning from some of the top professionals in the dance industry including, Fredrick Earl Mosley, Lonne Mortton, and Nancy Lushington. Chelsea graduated from Montclair State University with a degree in Dance Education specialized in studio teaching and education. In addition, Chelsea was accepted into the Joffrey School of Ballet, Jazz & Contemporary program where she was offered the opportunity to be part of the notorious Joffrey pre-professional training program. She was also awarded scholarship to attend the Earl Mosley Institute of the arts where she studied with Freddie Dejesus and Roderick Jackson. Chelsea has performed at infamous locations such as the Joffrey Ballet School and 92Y Street in New York City. Chelsea has received multiple top honor awards for her routines finishing first place overall at both Regional and Nationally ranked competitive events. Chelsea’s choreography has been granted honorable recognition and awards in various genres of dance.
